Island Homes Left Without Power for Second Millennia
Island families have spent this week distraught as for the second millennia their homes have been left without electricity and running water.
Homes across the Isle of Wight have been left reliant upon primitive measures to heat and light their houses as weather conditions continue to leave them without power. Families now face the prospect of spending the third millennium continuing to light their homes by candle and bathing in nearby streams.
Butcher, Albert Cragg, has been sending postcards to EDF Energy for 40 years requesting to be connected to the national grid, but has been continually disappointed. “I write to thee most days but alas, it is in vain. “said Cragg.
Baker, William Sutton, echoed Craggs grievances. “Whilst those upon the main are continually evolving the processes in which they bake, I am left at the heel. Must we forever be in the dark?”
Not all Island businesses are suffering however. Candlestick maker Geoffrey Wax has established a successful, thriving business. “Trade is fucking booming mate”, said Mr Wax. “These candles have been flying off the shelves, people cant get enough of em. I am living like a fucking King.”
As the end of 2014 draws close and 2015 approaches, Isle of Wight residents are ready to face yet another year without electricity or running water. Both energy and water companies have released no plans to extend their services to the Isle of Wight anytime soon.
