Isle of Wight Receives Valuation on Antiques Roadshow
In anticipation of another year that is to be marked by budget cuts and deeper austerity measures, George Osborne has shown how far he is willing to go by bringing the Isle of Wight along for valuation on this weeks episode of BBC1s Antiques Roadshow.
Taking place in the urban metropolis of Throppington upon-the-Hay, the latest episode of BBC1s Antiques Roadshow saw the arrival of special guest and Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP.
“With all this tat on offer it seemed like the perfect place to flog the Isle of Wight,” said Mr Osborne. “Its a marvellously quaint little jumble-sale. I might even pick up a Royal Doulton vase or two for the kids on the way out. Just a little something disposable they can chuck around in the playroom.”
Moments before having the Island valued by antiques expert Eric Knowles Mr Osborne admitted that he had no idea what to do with the economy anymore.
“Not that I did in the first place,” Mr Osborne said, flashing his signature soul-curdling grin. “Who the hell truly understands economics anyway? I just get up on stage, say the words austerity, cut-backs, and budget. Afterwards I mumble some stuff about how we are all in it together and an alarming number of people buy it.”
“All anyone knows is that we are pretty damn buggered!” Mr Osborne continued. “Well the poor people are. I’m certainly not, ha! Anyway I thought: clear out the attic, sell some stuff and make a few quid in the process, and that’s what brought me here.”
After rip-roaring session discussing the family history of the Isle of Wight it was discovered that it had been passed down to Mr Osborne by the previous government, who in turn had received it from the government before them.
Through careful consideration Eric Knowles determined that the Isle of Wight was worth anything in the region of £400 £1000.
“Fantastic!” said Mr Osborne. “Its amazing what you can find tucked away in the loft. Once it trickles down that should satisfy the working class for another few months.”
